On September 8, 2024, the Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA) Negros Oriental-Siquijor Chapter successfully hosted a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar at the Bethel Guest House in Dumaguete City. The event, themed "Empowering the Filipino Pharmacists for Better Healthcare," gathered 109 pharmacists from across Negros Oriental and Siquijor, reinforcing the role of pharmacists in enhancing healthcare services.
The seminar featured several topics with speakers: Mark Ryan D. Langit, the PPhA Section Representative for Pharmacy Education, and Mellissa R. Dela Cruz-Mirto, PPhA Vice-President for Visayas, who provided insights into the evolving responsibilities of pharmacists in the healthcare system. They emphasized the importance of continuous learning, adaptation to new healthcare technologies, and fostering patient-centered care. Updates from the Food and Drug Administration were also given. Mr. Ariel Nico Villariaza, the chapter president led the said event, with his equally dynamic and young officers of the PPhA Negros Oriental-Siquijor chapter.
The CPD event was a vital opportunity for pharmacists to exchange knowledge, engage in meaningful discussions, and strengthen their commitment to delivering quality healthcare services. The attendees left inspired, empowered, and better equipped to contribute to the advancement of Filipino healthcare.
